Children in Worship

Children are encouraged to worship with their families! The following programs are geared toward children and their families:

Pray-Ground

Our Pray-Ground is a safe space for infants and toddlers and their caregivers to wiggle, build, create, and play while still being an active part of worship as they develop an identity as valuable members of our community. For safety reasons, we kindly ask that you respect the restriction of only infants through preschoolers in the Pray-Ground. We also ask that children are monitored at all times by caregivers and that families clean up at the end of worship.

Sunday School

Sunday School classes for those in Preschool through 12th grade are held on all Sundays except first Sundays and holiday weekends from September through May. Preschool through 8th grade classes will meet at 10:30 AM during worship, and 9th through 12th grade classes will meet on Sunday evenings. In Fall 2023, they will use The Lord’s Prayer: An Illustrated Curriculum. Classes are led by caring and experienced teachers who enjoy sharing God’s Word with our children! If you’re interested in joining us, please contact Director of Children’s Ministry Kate Ciufo (kate@firstpresbelair.org). The first day of Sunday School for 2023-24 is Sunday, September 24.

Family Breakfast Church

On the 5th Sundays of the month, we will all worship together during breakfast in Legacy Hall.

Children’s Church

This fan favorite is held on special occasions. After the children’s sermon, preschool through 5th graders will move into Legacy Hall for a lesson and engaging activities while parents can remain in the Sanctuary for the Sermon. Children will return to worship in time for communion. In this photo, the children played “pin the petal on the flower” to create an imperfect flower, discussing John 4:1-42 and how God loves us even though we are imperfect.

Children Lead Worship

The Children will lead the worship service on special occasions and holidays by serving as worship leader and ushers.

Coloring Books & Crayons

Coloring books and crayons are always available on the table in the Narthex and will be re-stocked regularly. We love having our children in worship and we hope that keeping their little hands busy helps both parents and children!

Please see the Children and Youth page for details about fellowship activities and contact the Director of Children’s Ministry, Kate Ciufo (kate@firstpresbelair.org), for the 2022-2023 Children’s Ministry Safety Guidelines.
